History of the Central Nevada Museum

The Central Nevada Museum was founded in 1981 by the Central Nevada Historical Society.

Construction was financed through a grant from the Fleischmann Foundation, Reno, Nevada. The museum is operated under the direction of the Central Nevada Historical Society and Nye County.

 The Central Nevada Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of the history of Central Nevada in Nye and Esmeralda Counties as well as surrounding areas. All collections belong to the Central Nevada Historical Society.

The Central Nevada Historical Society is a Nevada non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity under IRC 509(a)(2), dedicated to preserving the history of Nye & Esmeralda counties, mainly through our displays and research library made available to the public at the Central Nevada Museum in Tonopah, Nevada. Contributions to the Central Nevada Historical Society are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.
